AMERICAN TOAD
Bufo americanus (2 - 3.5 inches)

Stocky body, bumpy skin, short legs.  Scattered dark spots with "warts"

Habitat - Prairies, wetlands, forests

Status in Wisconsin - common
A long, uninterrupted trill that can last up to 30 seconds is the song of the toad.

Breeding season: Early May - Late June
